The last time an engine slipped her tires on the IC was when a messenger on one of the engines in a "funeral train" ran with the engine brake applied and overheated the tires. The wrecker engineer said he thought her had picked up his last steam locomotive but they had to go pick up that one while the machinists retired her.
How about some of you old timers telling us how this ws handled on the NG??
