William:
D&RGW records do not show routine maintenance like attaching or removing a plow pilot after the winter. The show the initial installation as modifications had to be made to the engines.

The D&RGW equipment cards only show the installation of plow pilots on two K37s....497 and 499. The equipment cards were not always kept up-to-date, so makes tracking changes difficult.

Many folks assume that the D&RGW was like the military in recording everything they did. While the D&RGW did extensive record keeping, not everything was written down and much of the D&RGW documentation no longer exists or is in private collections and not available for research.
