"When in doubt the safest course is the best course".
I have had it happen to me only once where we had to stop and build steam at S Wye. The first two runs of the day were good, with great weather and excellent wood. While at Sumpter on the 2nd run, we had a cloud burst. The wood setting on the loading dock was quite dry and soaked water like a sponge. The remaining wood on the engine was drenched. The water was running out from under the wood into the cab. The 3rd run, this woman who was dressed more for a garden party than a cab ride requested to ride in the cab. I am a happily married man, but this lady was pretty good looking and I hated to look like a doofus in front of her. I am kinda shy around women anyway. It was about the most embarrassing run I have fired. I think we sat at S Wye for about 20 minutes. I think we had done well to make it that far. If we could have made it on into Sumpter with 50lbs and an inch of water in the glass we probably would have
.(agreeably not the safest course)
