Hello Bill & Chase -
Your post prompted me to dig into a box in the closet I hadn't opened in several years -
which contained, among many other things, about 90 6x7 cm negatives from 1996 that
feature #463 and #497. These photos are of the excursions chartered by Jim Trowbridge
in mid-September that year. IIRC the first was a two-day round trip from Chama to Antonito,
with #463 pulling a short freight and #497 pulling the "chase" train, and the second was a
one-day round trip to Big Horn with #497 as road engine and #463 as rear helper.
I've only scanned one of them so far, just to make sure these FujiColor negs have held up O-K; it's a pretty standard shot of #463 approaching "Lake Lobato" at the upper end of the narrows with the first excursion, on what I recall was a pretty cold and blustery day:
I'll be scanning and posting some more of these 1996 shots in the next few days; meanwhile here are some close-ups of #463's frame, ash-pan, spring rigging, counterweights and trailing truck, etc., taken in mid-September, 2009:
Happy New Year!
