Hi, all -
In light of the above, and interest shown by others in taking advantage of the occasion for further camaraderie, I have contacted one Mr. Ernest Robart of ABQ for assistance. Ernie has indicated that he will be happy to act as our tour guide on Thursday afternoon, March 10 and Friday morning, March 11 for those interested in seeing some of the local BNSF highlights, perhaps even the ex-ATSF 4-8-4 currently undergoing restoration. Ernie is also available to join us for dinner on the 10th, and to show some of his
Rio Grande slides from the mid-sixties afterward, assuming a suitable venue can be arranged.
With the above in mind, I suggest that several of us traveling from Southern California to ABQ en route to Antonito join Grant (aka OzInOz) on AmTrak's Southwest Chief on WEDNESDAY night, March
9, and meet at Philippe's - within walking distance of L.A. Union Depot - on the afternoon of March 9, two or three hours prior to our departure.
Sharing a van for the trip from ABQ to the C&TS and return is also something we should consider, especially if we're all staying at the Narrow Gauge RR Inn in Antonito
. . .

p.s. Even if you're not taking part in The Friends Flanger Extra please feel free to join the gang at Philippes on Wednesday afternoon!
