One of my mother's elderly cousins came out from Cortez, CO. to visit (N.E.Oregon) last year and when I told him about my interest in the NG he mentioned that at one period of his life he logged around Dolores and the principal logging roads they were truck hauling over were built on old logging rr grades. He said they had quite a time with flat tires on their trucks because old spikes kept working up through the dirt from the old rr grades underneath. Like a fool I didn't get a map and try to have him show me where these roads were as he passed away a few months later.
