John...
Thanks for the photo from DPL...I'll be searching around in there too.
I'll bet there is more to be found.
The shot of Como appears to be near the end of operations circa 1930's...
I see 7 pins on the crossarms of the near pole, and one bracket below.
Not all of the pins and insulators appear to be occupied, but
the number of pins appears to be approximately correct
This is looking what, northwest(?) towards the hotel past the depot.
I'll have to research the trackage layout vicinity Como to see how the line came in from the Denver side and what went on up over Boreas Pass.
I believe I've seen photos of the line over Boreas that showed two wires on the line....One was probably A RR wire (one C&S wire did go through Leadville, and down the D&RG branch to Malta and then east on the D&RG line to where it branched off to the Alpine tunnel route and eventually to Parlin and Gunnison. I have pole diagram records that show that one.
The other wire probably was a Western Union Leadville wire.
I am reasonably sure the subject three big copper wires were not on the C&S Boreas Line to Leadville.
Be interesting to see the depot cable pole at the Como depot, or however
the wires terminated at the depot, since the switchboard would have been in there.
Now we gotta find out what went west of Como over Trout Creek Pass.
