Engines versus engines

When I was involved with overhauling diesel-electric locomotives, we found it useful to use the term "prime mover" when refering to the engines that powered the....well....engines. Edit: Just noticed that John Cole used the term prime mover in his earlier post.

I'd also like to compliment Rich on his literary vision of all this. Most appropriate.
