Dave:
Thanks for posting that update on the Round Hill Tank! I photographed that tank on April 4, 1962, when my wife and I were headed south from Leadville over Poncha Pass to Alamosa and Antonito. IIRC, the tank was somewhere on the south side of Poncha Pass.
Do you have a guess as to about how far south of that Pass this tank was?
When we got home and I had the films developed, I found that I had forgotten to make a note about the tank and couldn't remember its name or location. Until I saw your photo and Rich Muth's, I was never sure.
IIRC, only a short while before, I had photographed the tank and grades at Mears Junction on the north side of Poncha Pass, where the Marshall Pass line and the line to Alamosa separated. That tank, of course, has been at the railroad portion of the museum in Gunnison for many years.
I just scanned all my 35mm slides from those days into my computer, including the Round Hill Tank. My April 1962 photo shows it in about the same condition as Rich's photo does.
Best regards, Hart Corbett
