Not as rare as you may think! Kodak introduced its Kodachrome to consumers in 1936.

A couple of years ago, I saw a whole carousel projector full of pre-1940 color slides, all of which were of the C&S ng operations up Clear Creek from Golden to Black Hawk. All were Kodachrome color.

The occasion was the annual ng get together at Steve Polkinghorn's place at Camino, CA. The presenter was the after dinner speaker, the late Bruce Maxwell, son of the late John Maxwell. The photos were all John's originals.
