Thanks bookem. The Grandt kit is reasonably close to the #50, you could probably use parts of the kit to get a headstart. The mech is wrong though and trying to fit the siderods onto the existing product would be i think quite involved. One of those situations where starting from scratch would be quicker. I can order a custom mech from hollywood foundry here in VIC. Two reasons for wanting to do this loco. 1. I'm not paying ridiculous $$$ for a brass one and 2. It would provide a nice change from a shed full of 2-8-2's.....
