To sum it all up, here's what RGRPC needs to do...

to generate additional revenue. I've compiled all the cogent advice from the two earlier threads into an executive summary for the convenience of their board.
1. Establish an endowment of at least $1 million.
2. Be advised that million dollar endowments are probably not realistic for museum/tourist rail operations.
3. Build trust with the local merchants in Chama. Look out for their interests.
4. Get around contractual prohibitions regarding a gift shop in Chama by hawking tourista wares on a cart outside the depot. Gift shop? What gift shop? This here's a vehicle!
5. Concentrate on high-end gifts with big mark-ups. Don't waste time with the cheap stuff. There's no margin.
6. Sell junk, especially to the kids. Forget the expensive stuff. Nobody buys it.
7. Stop all this the micro-mananging by the RGRPC board.
8. Micro-management is our job.
Anyway, once again we've laid it all out for these guys (RGRPC). The path to success is pretty clear. I just don't know how many times we can be expected to pull their (expletive deleted) out of the fire on a pro bono basis. Next time the meter's gonna run.
