The current photo at the bottom of the page, one of the Uintah 2-6-6-2Ts, has a special interest for me as I and two friends parked our vehicle just down the hill and hiked up the grade well past Moro Castle in 2002 or so.

I will always be glad that I took the time to do this as it gave me a much better appreciation of just what an engine buster this road was.

If you are ever in the area and the roads are dry, consider driving at least out to Atchee and then up toward Baxter Pass. It's awesome. Even more so if you hoof some of it.
