First cut is scary? I'd think the cut along the floor level is the scariest! The floor cut was by far the hardest for my G scale conversions:

These pipe gons started out as two LGB #4073 gondolas.

Everything you see in white is the plastic I had to add. The plastic beams on the floor of the car are removable risers so the pipes won't snag the low brake wheels on the idler flats:








The idler flats started out as three Hartland flatcars. Again, everything in white is added styrene. I also added metal grabs, stirrups, brake wheels, and coupler pockets. The simulated rail bracing is a styrene I beam with some strip styrene added to simulate a rail profile:





Next step was painting:





First test run:




Still have to get some pipes for these.
