"Was Bonita the assigned meeting place or was the meet order"

Bonita would not have been the assigned meeting place, with the exception of Elko it had the longest siding between Sargent and Gunnison, 44 cars. My guess is the order would have been written to specify the meet location. Extra east 496 had 35 cars and extra 494 west had 57 cars. The extra east was the superior train but my guess is it took the siding (being the shorter train) for the meet as 494 west does not show any delay at Bonita.

"Did the Farmington train leave some of it's loads at Carbon Jct, or perhaps it was over tonnage leaving Aztec or Fora Vista?
Lots of tank cars in that train."

Again, my mistake. Out of Farmington should read 1 fuel oil for Alamosa. The number 1 is placed right next to the "fuel" and I mistakenly read the F as a 2. Believe it or not the capital F looks just like a 2. Anyway out of Farmington 12 loads 9 emptys. Pick up 2 more apples at Aztec. Not shown where the other 2 loads originated.

"you are showing Extra 496 East out of Gunnison meeting extra 494 West at Bonita, but there is no mention of Extra 494 on this day."

I should have bracketed a notation that extra 494 west left Salida Oct 3.
