Yes, there are serious concerns. Every winter friends of the railroad watch gales and snow storms with anxious eyes on the shops buildings.
The Blacksmith Shop in particular (one of the oldest buildings on the site) has developed a notable list to one side, and the main horizontal roof timber in the Machine Shop complex truss roof is presently shored up with cribbing.
As for needing to be preserved: well, certainly everyone agrees in principle, but so far no agreement has managed to garner the consent of all the concerned parties (owner, state and Federal government, etc.)
