Russ,
That's not a bad idea, "The CRRM Hobby Police", but you can come up with a better title like "Foamer Patrol" or no Ching-- Mi Ferrocarril Servico Particular.
Seriously, I would love to see 346, 20, even 318 run on the C&TS or D&S,
even 20 in F&CC livery with "Portland" lettering, temporarily. The logistics would be staggering, not to mention the funds needed to do this. The Museum Board of Trustees would have to be of one accord, and shown what benefits the Museum would derive from running the equipment on another tourist line. The Museum did run Goose #2 in 2000 and 2001 on the D&S. We were limited to 12 paying passengers in the front and back, which limited the revenue, plus the general public thought #2 belonged to the D&S. In 2001 we had a two sided, six foot sandwich board, saying Galloping Goose #2 courtesy of the Colorado Railroad Museum. The Museum still got very little publicity out of those two years of running. The publicity we did get was when the Midwest Central's Model T railcar rearended #2 at Home Ranch siding. That cost the Museum $ ( the CRRM's insurance company) There probably would be some reluctancy to let equipment off the property. All of the other historic equipment running on the D&S and C&TS do not have a "home track" to operate on. The CRRM does, albeit a short loop.
But, we can dream, can't we.
