Steffen,
If your attitude is that prevalent in Europe, then I suggest that you stand out of the way.
Who cares if America is foe to 100% of the Muslim world? We tolerate different religions in this country, including the followers of Mohammed, we don't arrest, torture and kill them. We have no "National Religion" save that of being Americans. We don't hijack planes and fly them into office buildings. We don't cut up defenseless people to prove how pious we are. We also don't treat a religion (Judiasm) as a race.
Oil? We import to preserve our own. The Middle East? Who's to say that they couldn't use some "new management" once the radiation clears off. No, our goal is not to create a world-wide desert, but with the emerging facts on the involvement of Afghanistan and Iraq, there's going to be some Hell to pay. Maybe there won't be a desert once all the sand is turned to glass.
Sorry, Steffen, but screw the Arabian World and the apologists, too. When the Palestinian children is Jerusalem are dancing in the street alongside their parents, then the perpetratrators are evident.
Can we threaten Afghanistan with bomb attacks? If I were the Taliban, I'd be looking for the first plane ticket out of there. If I were Saddam Hussein, I'd be making some serious peace with my ancestors, pronto.
Our "Cowboy behavior", the moral code of a man's word being his bond and swift and definitive justice at the end of a rope, got the US to the top of the International Pecking Order and I see no reason to stop now. I don't particularly care about the Moslems nor their religion, but they won't abide by the principals of "Live and let live".
As for your terrorist accuisations about the Israeli's, you have to walk a mile in their shoes first. After centuries of religious prosecution, culminating with the henous "Final Solution" and after surviving that, the 1967 seven day war, wouldn't you be paranoid? Itchy on the Trigger finger? I would, and with good reason.
We have to show the Moslem World that the US has the backbone, fortitude and resolve to not back down to their bizarre and inflexible demands. If it takes a few thousand "eye for an eye's" then so be it. Especially when you're dealing with a group of people who understand nothing less.
