Re: #489's Season in Green - A VERY special Pledge!

GREAT NEWS!

Jeff Ellingson of the D&SNG in Durango has obtained a sample of the original D&RGW
"Dark Olive Green Boiler Jacket Enamel", which the D&RGW purchased from Komac (sp?)
in Denver many years ago. Jeff has had this sample analyzed and the color duplicated in a
'modern' formula which he obtains in Durango at a reasonable cost for use on the D&SNG
locomotives in his care.

Jeff has offered to assist us in obtaining some of this paint if the #489 "Season in Green" project is approved by C&TS management, and has even offered to help with the painting of #489 in mid-May!   His estimate of the total cost of the project, assuming that some of us "Greenies" will pitch in and help to thoroughly wash #489 and prepare her for painting, is a maximum of about $1,000 - which we have already doubled with our pledges!

Assuming that everybody comes through on their pledges, we should have about $1,000 left to donate to the C&TS for a worthwhile project - such as rebuilding a K-37 - or as seed money for a photo special behind #489 in late May or early June while the green paint is still fresh ...
