Just last week, I was caught at a crossing in a fairly pretentious East Coast vacation community. After the gates were down for a good 15-20 seconds with still no train, a fairly nice European vehicle pulled out from behind me and zigzagged through the gates. Another 2 or 3 followed, the last missing the train by maybe 4 (railroad) carlengths. Human beings are by nature stupid.
