Thank you for the remembrance. I was off playing with ships for my Uncle and had to miss it but thanks to Ernie and others we have the memories to share. From such humble beginnings......and the guys on the Rye O'Grande said it couldn't be done.
If anyone had told me in 1970 that there would be six or more trains running daily in the 21st Century, under steam, on the San Juan Extension trackage of the old Rio Grande I would have said they were smokin' too much of something. We have been blessed by lots of hard work and fortitude on the part of the men of the C&TS and D&S.
