Re: SP NG 18

One week ago, my wife and I stopped at the small park where SPNG 18 is currently displayed. Although the 18 looks great cosmetically, it doesn't seem that there is much restoration activity. It was hotter than h*ll and my drooling over an old steam locomotive was barely tolerated by my spouse of 30 years. Our dog did appreciate strolling through the park.

If there is an interest, I can post some photos. I sincerely hope that the restoration effort is proceeding and would love to know where contributions could be sent.

Last year, after much protest from my kids, we stopped at Keeler. The depot still stands but God only knows how much longer.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as to how I can convince my wife that we NEED to drive up to Cerro Gordo and stay at the American Hotel. Sounds very romantic to me but convincing my wife that four wheeling 8-10 miles to a 100 year old hotel may be problematic.
