I couldn't make it up to NG country this weekend so I took a trip closer to home. It was an unusually cool weekend for this time of year in AZ so a trip on the Verde Canyon seemed like a good idea. The day started out overcast with some sunlight peeking through as seen in this shot on the southern end of the line.
The namesake Verde River that is our companion for most of the trip. I love the variation in the geology along this route.
We start to see some red rock off in the distance. The storm clouds are also building. I think we may get some rain on this trip.
