Back in the early 70's, we used to walk the old grade from Central City to Black Hawk. It was great, switch backs and all. We would walk the grade to Black Hawk, stop in one of the local bars and have a drink (or two...or three...or four...) and then try to find our way back to Central City....via the road! No casinos back then. It was a great place to spend the summers. On one walking trip, Dave Ropchan found the remains of a kerosene headlight off a wreck from the early 1900's. We carried it back to the depot and put it on display.
