Interesting. No cameras, or only hand held, digital cameras set to not flash?
I ask because a couple of years ago I was in Washington DC attending a meeting, and spent a couple of days downtown at both the Library of Congress and the National Archives doing research. I did NOT get out to use the photos and maps in Maryland, unfortunately. However, at that time, many researchers were using hand held digital cameras set to not flash to make copies of documents in the reading room at the National Archives. The staff seemed to feel that this was a good way of reducing the lines for the self-service photocopier. A lot of people in expensive looking suits were clicking away with little cigarette pack sized digital pocket cameras. I had not thought of bringing a digital camera, or I would have. I had my stack of note cards and pencils. Everything else, of course, went into a locker outside. But those with lap tops were allowed to bring in the lap top, but not a whole bag of stuff.
