The Silverton Railroad Turntable at Corkscrew Gulch used gravity for both legs of the switch back to keep the engine pointed forward. I am attempting to incorporate a working version of this set-up into a model railroad I am working on building. This part of the layout is still in the planning stages but I have a couple ideas of how to disconnect the engine, turn it and then let the model cars roll by gravity down the small slope. The real set-up is facinating and the model should be pretty innovative also.
