The 2 P&P shots date from very early in the park's existance, and might even be from one one of the grand opening deals. Running the engine was Leonard Phelps, an old guy from Rayonier. Sitting with him is Bill Jenkins who was the mayor of Scottsdale in the mid-1970's. He was my Civics class teacher at old Scottsdale High School in my senior year of 1976. I have some pics of the golden spike ceremony in the spring of 1975. It was a cold rainy day, so this is not the same day. They had an open house/grand opening in Sept. which might be when these were taken. I was busy manning a booth the HO gauge club sponsored and didn't take any pics of the trains that day.
