I very much agree with Sean on riding qualities of the two trucks. Whe I was braking in DGO, there was one car in use with the frieght car trucks, and yes it did ride rough.

The greater rolling resistance of plain bearings vs. roller bearings is very small at low speeds (less than 25 mph). If an entire 12 car train was roller bearing equipped, you might be able to pull one more car to Silverton. The main reason the mainlines got away from plain bearings was so they could get rid of lots of car inspectors.
