Considering the probable economy this year, if you are interested in buyig a ticket for a photo train this season - what are you willing to pay for it and what do you expect for it?
It would appear that the common pattern for a photo train is roughly 10 hours, one or two steam locomotives pulling a special consist, continetal breakfast and a box lunch. Multiple runbys at either "standard" or rail access locations. The rail equipment may or may not be historically accurate for the line.
Remember to count what you would spend in travel (assume at least one day each way), lodging and meals.
1. Saturday only, or both Saturday and Sunday?
2. What is the maximum group you consider preferable? 20, 40, 60, higher?
3. How many photo locations and/or runbys would you expect each day?
4. How important is early morning light, late afternoon light versus a night photo shoot?
5. What is the one most imprortant improvement that could be made to most photo runs in your opinion?
6. How much do you consider to be a fair price for each day?
7. Any real preference for the season spring, summer, fall or winter?
Obviously a run on CATS or DSNG has a whole lot more possibilities and interest, but would you consider others (at the same price?) such as EBT, Tweetsie, Huckleberry, Sumpter, Loop (if there was steam), etc.?
Given three choices, what would your preference be for attending a photo run this year, and how many would you more than likely buy a ticket for in the same year?
Thanks,
Dan
