So far since the change of schedule of the arrival of the Denver express it has succeeded in coming in on time every morning.

The new depot at this place is rapidly nearing completion. It is a great improvement on the old one but is a very poor substitute for the fine stone building that was expected to be erected here the coming summer.

Division Superintendent Lydon and Master Mechanic Shone have been enjoying themselves for the past week out with the boys bucking snow in the mountains. The story that George asked to be let off the engine every time a good big drift loomed up in the distance is not credited by his friends.
Under a general order issued by the D&RG the employees of that company have been marching up to the company surgeon’s office here and baring their strong right arms to have the festive vaccine point inserted therein. This order was given on account of a few cases of small pox along their line of road.

The excursion that is expected to arrive here on the 26th will bring a large number of permanent settlers into the valley.

Five engines were put behind a snow plow on Saturday [2/16/89] to clear the track on Los Pinos hill. Just as they reached the siding at that point engine #53 went through a bridge and #55 jumped the track and ran along side. The track was blocked for three days but now is comparatively clear.
