Thanks all for the great help. Shows why this is such a great forum.
A friend noticed my post and kindly sent me scale drawings scanned from the Sloan book. Of course I have a copy of the Sloan book (great resource). It's just at our place in Colorado, while I'm working in Southern California at the moment.
And thanks for the invite Fred. But I'm one of those pesky snow birds that flee to Southern California during the winter and only return during the summer
But when we come out this summer you should come over and visit the layout. In addition to this 6500 flat, I'm also working on a pipe train.
Sometimes having a layout one place but most of my modeling resources and computer equipment at the other can make projects a bit more challenging. But I like to do a lot of model building and painting at our California place because most of our tools are there...thanks to the HO layout.
The 6500 flat I'm building is not anywhere close to a scale model because I'm kitbashing a spare G scale flatcar that has been siting around doing nothing. But it's helpful to look at scale plans and adjust/compress here and there to make as close a model as I can.
Again thanks all for the help. If there's any interest, I can post photos of the models progress.
