Regarding Santa Fe Branch: Yes, the engine for No. 425 was stationed at Antonito. When No. 426 arrived Antonito the engine was held there until No. 425 the next morning. A post of Jan 31, 1939, showed the 473 running light to Alamosa for shop work. Ran light the next morning for use on No. 425. So there would be occasions where the power needed to move to Alamosa, repairs, change out, etc.
Regarding helper on No. 115: Yes, correct the helper was left on until reaching Chama.
