The railroads other main stay for motive power were about 4, give or take, 0-6-0s. We've had one former shop mechanic and occasional fireman from the VT&S come into the museum before, He was still in his early 20's when the railroad was shut down, but the older fellows used to tell him the stories of the first few trips the mallets took to Jerome and Hopewell. "More spread rails than you could shake a stick at!" Probably could have heard those suckers pounding up that hill from all over the valley..
