The D&RGW didn't have any selectorized Morse way wires in their remaining relay offices when I worked there... The RR was trying real real hard to kill the Morse operations entirely and ultimately succeeded.
what message work still went on on the few remaining Morse wires was easily handled by one operator in the relay offices. Denver HQ didn't even HAVE a Morse wire anymore after about 1960-62. Pueblo and Grand Jct. did, but only until the last remaining operators who could work the Morse wires retired...and those went away immediately when they did.
Everyplace else that acted as a telegraph relay office paid a "telegraph operator" to take incoming RR messages
ON THE COMPANY TELEPHONE!
Pooo!
I never got close enough in with the comm guys on the Santa-Fe to dig into what they used enough to find out....dammit.
