I remember seeing one of those PAs on the head end of No. 1 going through Portland just before the end of service. Quite impressive.
I rode the Royal Gorge four times, all on No. 1 twice to Florence and twice to Salida. Once my Grandpa McCandless got on at Florence and rode with us. Grandma had already passed on.
They used to ride No. 2 to Pueblo many times. On my birthday Grandma would bring a cake. Maybe that is one of the reasons that I like trains.
