GRUPO MEXICO IS BIG OUTFIT THAT HAS TAKEN OVER QUITE A FEW US COMPANIES-two of whom I've worked for. They bought a big paper mill in New Mexico, laid all the white caucasian laborers and maintence crews (me) off or reduced their wages and benefits to the point where you couldnt afford to work there and hired illegal aliens they bussed in from Mexico. At the Hayden Copper Smelter and other mines in southern Az they did the same- cashing in long term employees to hire more illegals at rock bottom wages. In southern New Mexico the underground mines they control have the worst safety record known to man, even after giving the boot to the trained anglo maintenance techs, experienced miners (me). Cave-ins, improper timber sets, bad air, poor drainage. In mexico the mine engineers who came back north said that the mines are very dangerous and gassy to work in because of inadequate safety, ventilators shut off to save money, poor track maintenance.
