Just to be pedantic:
The K-37's were on the Durango line until 1933 when they were sent up to Salida. They came back to Alamosa in late 1950-early '51 as stated above.
Eight K-36's (480-483, 485-487 & 489) went to Salida in the same late '50 early '51 time frame. 486 & 487 came back in the 12/52 when Marshall Pass was to be closed, 485 died up there & the rest came back in '56 after the Monarch branch went to std ga.
Oh, btw all the K-28's originally worked in freight service out of Salida. There's a copy of a newspaper story in the Dorman Alamosa/Salida book (p143) dated 9/28/23 about them arriving. They didn't become passenger power until later. They were ordered as freight engines and are shown as such in the 1923 D&RG roster(p94). Basically just an updated K-27. I expect their first passenger use was Salida-Sargent as K-27's (often 459) had been holding that down for years with a T-12 taking the train on into Gunny. I don't know when they moved into more general passenger use or onto 4th Division but I'd guess it was around 1925 with the arrival of the K-36's that year and several of the T-12's going for scrap in '26.
