Right Tom, the tipple is leaning so much that the track for the coal buckets is out of alignment and they get stuck. It is going to take years to gently straighten it out enough to line things up. Kind of like braces on teeth, a little constant pressure over a long period of time.
One of the bigger problems now is to find out how the railroad kept water out of the wells for the coal buckets. It fills with water each year and must be pumped out. So far I hear that no one has found any sort of drain at the bottom. Anyone out there have any plans for the concrete footings on the thing from Fairbanks?
