Is this operation going to start with the one car or are more in works? I am familiar with the 10 Km.long Urubamba branch that connects to mainline.

Our 2008 TUT tour had a lot of operational problems with Perurail. Also they continue to raise prices, while deleivering inferior service. On the mainline from Cusco to Puno standard gauge, Peruvian tour agencies direct passengers to bus tours. They do not like to support Perurail.
