Hi,
Here in Atlanta, the north area of the county that is Dunwoody has become a city.
The old Roswell Railroad section house has been leased by the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce. They have asked me to help them return it to a somewhat historical railroad motif. Although the it was available for sale a few months age, the 1/3rd acre it sits on was going for $750,000 - way out of my price range.
The owners of the property were "absolutely sure" that the building was built circa 1930. Since the Roswell RR was graded in 1863. the first rail laid (36" gauge) in 1880, and the Southern pulled up the rails (56.5") in 1921, the owners are mistaken as to the historical date.
The section house is last of three section houses that were in Dunwoody and I believe one of only two Roswell RR buildings left in existence, it is very important to preserve.
Since I know of no existing photos of the section house during the railroads existence, I thought I'd look to see what the Sublette, NM section houses and how they are painted. Unfortunately, I have no photos at all of Sublette !!!
Could anyone guide me to some color photos of the Sublette buildings?
Thanks.
