But looking at the two photo view in the first post, I don't see any evidence of a break. The two tang ends look identical to each other, squared off like they were made that way. The end that ties both legs together appears to be as cast. I think there is a clue in the way that feature connecting both legs presents a very rounded profile to the outside. It seems rounded more than what would be typical of just rounding an edge for good casting practice. It seems like that feature is intentionally extra blunt as if it is meant to chafe of buff against something, and possibly in more than just one direction.
