Howdy,
As someone once said, nothing is certain until after it happens, having said that "IF" there is another OB DEMO next year, there will be a heck of a lot more planning, prior work and tests.
If we can find a spur track that just ends in nothing all, such as the end of a wye, we would like to try and drive a pile. Turning the OB to far from the track may have been part of the cause for the wreck back in the 20's. OB seems to be very top heavy, and getting the heavy mast and weight far from center line is not a risk worth taking.
Except for one member on the team I pulled the watermelon out of my ___. The area of the melon between the weight and the guide tie was turned to mush. The ends somehow came through. And yes it probably wasn't the brightest thing to do. The weight was only an inch or two higher than the melon. I was dumb to have my hands between the rock and the hard place, so to speak.
