As the title says, a big thank you to the OB crew, and all of the usual suspects from the C&TS, for a great day. It really is too bad that this unique event didn't generate more interest and a few more $$. Selfishly, it sure made for a wonderful, low-key day of riding, shooting and just soaking it all in (literally, if you got too close to the twin geysers put out by OB!). The weather was almost perfect, as we had storms all around us making for interesting skies, but we stayed mostly sunny and dry all day. That doesn't happen often on Cumbres Pass in the monsoons of early August.
I think everyone was disappointed when it looked like the watermelon smash wouldn't happen, but cheers went up when the weight raised for the first time, and even more when the smash took place. As Cliff mentions, the watermelon made the rounds of the small crowd, and just about everyone had a chunk. Ahhh, the sweet taste of success! :-)
Again, a hearty "job well done" for the OB group. Sure glad I got to be there to see it all.
