I totally agree, John. That's why I posted on that other - extremely long - thread that, IMHO, if the CHS wanted the loop to be more historic they should have added a provision requiring -
and supporting - the Ashby's running an OCCASIONAL special event with lightly-used historic equipment, and NOT attempted the foredoomed disaster of day-to-day heavy use of irreplacable and relatively fragile historic artifacts. Turning said artifacts over to a relatively inexperienced operator greatly compounded the error. The result is "History" - or rather, the very UNhistoric dismalization of the Loop.
