If I recall correctly, it was the relics at Gato and study of the intact ROW between Durango and Chama, that led to the informal formation of the "Friends of the San Juan Extension". This was 8 years ago! And the amazing thing is that this long-lived discussion forum still has the information in its archives. See here:
