Re: "Some Special Event" ... Sept. 2010!

As mentioned just a FEW times here (to underwhelming response), the fortieth anniversary of the arrival of the first C&TS train into Chama from Antonito will be Labor Day weekend, 2010 ...

If JBWX (or anyone else) is going to organize an event using the 480's, it seems to me that this would be a great time to do something as it is only a few days after the annual RailFest in Durango and there should be at least a few fans in the area.

Several of us have been donating time and/or money for the past few years in hopes that #483 - which pulled said first train - could be restored in time to take part in appropriate festivities in 2010. Right now, it looks like one of the other 480's will have to substitute for her.

Many of us who where involved as volunteers at that time are no longer exactly "spring chickens", so it seems that a 40th Anniversary Party might attract quite a few more of us than a 50th Anniversary Party in 2020.

Just a thought (or two) ...
