It's a Canon 40D with either the Canon 24-105 L or the 100-400 L.
The exposure is a combination of: 1) lots of frames, sort it out later, and 2) shoot raw, fix it later. Even in my photography, I'm a procrastinator... Given the bright skies of Colorado combined with black equipment and an unknown quantity of smoke, it's about the only way to get reliable results.
