Hi Doug and everyone,
There have been a couple of fires in Santa Cruz county but they were nowhere near the railroad. The big problems are way south near Big Sur and Goleta. All the fire fighters are doing a wonderful job. The communities are proving to be resolute, resourceful and resilient.

Roaring Camp is doing well and we are taking extra precautions. The 2 truck shay and the heisler are running, and pulling second section trains when necessary. Work continues on putting #7 the 3 truck shay back together. The new tires (all 12) and the new gears (6 new ring gears and 6 new pinion gears) are mounted. We should get the rear truck under the loco this week and can then line bore the new line shaft brasses. We hope to complete it all before Labor Day.

If you haven't visited the RC&BT recently,or ever, you should come. It really is impressive riding around under 300' tall redwoods and up and down 8.5-10% grades. We run all year although only on weekends in the winter.
