The Medina incident occurred because of a loophole in the Ohio Pressure Vessel code. Years ago the threashers managed to get their equipment exempted from state inspection. Power boilers other than these were inspected annually.(I'm a former Cedar Point employee, and can attest to the inspections and the certificates mounted in each cab).Needless to say the threashers are no longer exempt.
