Ironic huh? They wanted the biggest the best, but they got the humblest locos of them all. It is odd how huge numbers of magnificent locos scrapped while the humble grungers (from the same RR) survive in (relatively) large numbers... Another example would be the Northern Pacific 4-8-4s, #2626 (the Timken) especially.
